Live Music
Notes The occasion was a celebration of the 750th anniversary of King John issuing a Royal Charter for settlers in Liverpool. The principal organiser of the event was Mrs Marjorie Roberts, who lived at 84, Roseberry Street. Her son Charles, who was a friend of Quarry Men drummer Colin Hanton (and who designed the group's logo on Hanton's bass drum), invited the group to play at the celebration. They played from the back of a stationary coal lorry. Charles Roberts took some photos of the band playing, and they are believed to be the first ever photos of John Lennon playing live.
