Music Festival
Notes The very first Glastonbury Festival (although not called this yet), held on his farm by dairy farmer Michael Eavis, who was inspired to do so after attending Bath Festival of Blues in 1969. Headliners The Kinks and Wayne Fontana did not appear, but were replaced by Tyrannosaurus Rex and Sam Apple Pie. Only around 2,500 attended when 3,000 were needed for break even, and Eavis had hoped for 5,000. Undaunted, he held another in 1971, with the Pyramid Stage appearing for the first time. The rest, as they say, is history..... Images
