thedjthattimeforgot 26th May 2016		Live Music Van Der Graaf Generator @ Thomas Bennett, Upper School, Hall	Wow. Never really thought my Google search would produce this. Where did you find it? New to the site, my first post. I used to do light shows, I was Sludge Gulper Lights. The gig was organised by myself and my mate Ivan Montaut, we were both 6th formers at Thomas Bennett. The year before we had put on Love Sculpture. They were number 5 in the charts the night they played our school dance. It was a Thursday and because of their contract with us they couldn't play Top of the Pops! Van der Graaf Generator played for £95, there was another band we were offered, an unknown (at the time) fledgling band looking for gigs. At that time rock wasn't as popular as poppy chart music. This band's agent wanted £125 and we weren't sure if we could sell enough tickets to cover the cost. That band was Led Zeppelin. Just imagine, Led Zep could have played one of their first gigs at the Thomas Bennett end of year school dance...
