In reply to the excellent posting by Roger Foster on 8th October 2021 about disco dozen being the earliest attempt as a disco chart. The first discotheque chart was published in Germany in April 1965 in the magazine Der MusikMarkt. London Life had one published from October 1966 to December 1966, i believe only for London city. They were some others short-lived discotheque charts in UK in 1968 (Disc and Music Echo) and 1972 (Record Mirror). And it might be true that Disco Dozen is the first national UK disco chart ever. I have published an academic paper about it and would be glad to send you a copy (published in Germany in 2022).

I've added an image of page 29 of the magazine (Image #2770626).

The page contains the very first appearance of the magazine's "Disco Dozen" chart, which I believe to be the earliest attempt to publish a chart compiled from disco play.

I've just added an image of the full page advert for The Wigan Casino that appeared in this magazine, which ties in with the discussion we are having about Steve Karmen's "Breakaway" on United Artists UP 35770 over at 45Cat.
