"When in doubt, get it out", goes the old saying (or did I just make that up?) .. Anyway I currently have all my 1970s copies of "B&S" out of storage so I thought I'd cheat and take a look at the article in the magazine. Not that it actually listed them!!
Apparently Clyde Brown (who did "You Called Me Back" on Atlantic) had just joined the group to replace Bill Fredericks, so I think that is him standing at the back (maybe The Drifters called him to the back in honour of his mini-hit)..
This You-Tube clip has Clyde Brown singing lead on "Like Sister And Brother", though unsportingly he seems to have grown his hair since the photo-shoot so I can't be 100% it is the same person as the chap at the back but I am 98% or so certain ..
So, if their Wikipedia entry is to be believed, and assuming that the photo was up-to-date, they would be Johnny Moore, Clyde Brown, Butch Leake and Grant Kitchings ...
I think Butch Leake is the one on the left (having done a bit of googling) which would make it ...
Front - Johnny Moore
Left - Butch Leake
Back - Clyde Brown
Right - Grant Kitchings.
..... I had hundreds of these from 1966 to 1976 or so, and gave them all away free to one of my private punters, a school teacher who printed up T-shirts to sell at the Caister etc. Soul all-dayers....... what was I thinking ??
Nice to see the legend Johnny Moore on the cover (the chubby one). but I've no idea who the other dudes are.....
