RadoxTheGreen 17th Jul 2013		The site policy has always been to use the notes for details like pages, publisher, cover price etc. and to put the magazine contents in the comment box. That's why I've always done it that way. You'll have 230 odd other entries of mine to do the same to if you go down that route. Personally speaking, I've always thought it would be more logical to have contents in the notes section but there are problems with doing that, and it's mostly down to editability. I often find I need to tweak contents listings for typo errors. The way this site is set up we can't edit our notes once we've added them, and the mods are already overworked. Plus there's no quick way to use bold, italics or add links to the notes. The lack of a preview before posting doesn't help there either. I don't think that the details currently in the notes should go in the bio either. They're specific to that particular issue, not generic to the whole magazine. Publishers can change (and have in the case of Fortean Times). So does price, page count etc. so no, site policy has got it right with placing those details there. The bio section is a bit redundant on Magazine World, I've been tempted to use it for putting info on other magazines before but used the notes instead, mainly because bio's don't stand out, you have to hunt for them, and how many people are going to bother reading the bio of a magazine? Far better to put the info in the notes where they will be read (especially if its something that needs to be read in order to make sense of, e.g why volume numbering doesn't match the issue number etc). I can see why it's a useful section for the record sites but doing a bio for a magazine would be a bit of a nightmare, unless you owned the publishing company and knew the background to the magazine and its history. So no, unless there's a site policy change, leave it as is, and if there is going to be a policy change, then the notes need to be made editable and given the html shortcuts currently enjoyed by the comments section before making that sort of switch.
