For its time, in March 1972 an artist to play two shows at the prestigious Empire Pool in Wembley was big big news! It was the biggest concert held by a single artist in Britain to date. The New Musical Express exclaimed it as “..the concert that changed the face of British Rock” and 75p got you a ticket !

T.Rex could do no wrong with the successful Electric Warrior album, only released less than a year prior, still selling phenomenally well and its follow up The Slider practically recorded and awaiting release on Marc’s own T Rex record label through EMI (as was his recent NO.1 hit single Telegram Sam). Recent shows in the U.S including the Palladium in Hollywood and Carnegie Hall in New York Add to all this that the concerts were to be filmed by ex- Beatle Ringo Starr for a Movie ‘Born To Boogie’

18th March 1972 Empire Pool 5.30 p.m show and the later evening show running order:
Emperor Rosko Introduction • Cadilac • Jeepster • Baby Strange • Spaceball Ricochet • Girl • Cosmic Dancer • Telegram Sam • Hot Love • Get It On • Summertime Blues

The souvenirs given out at the time were 4-page folded pamphlets that were not official but sold by men in white coats (?) also selling posters of Marc and other merchandise of the day, such as rosettes and silk scarves. Now 45 years later with many wonderful photographs having come to light and now a high quality DVD and audio of the event available to fans I thought we would commemorate this unique concert with our own programme brochure .. we hope you like it!
