Eustace appeared in a series of humor pieces by Corey Ford which pretended to provide an inside look at creation of the magazine. An example was Eustace overlooking the harvesting of "specially grown trees to make the paper" used for the magazine.
Eustace has reappeared in the magazine almost every year.
