cover: Frederick Grant Banting (1891–1941) was a Canadian medical scientist, physician, painter, and Nobel laureate noted as the co-discoverer of insulin and its therapeutic potential. Banting and John Macleod received the Nobel Prize in medicine in 1923. Banting shared the honors and award money with his colleague, Charles Best. The government of Canada granted Banting a lifetime annuity the same year to continue his work. At age 32, he was the youngest Nobel laureate for physiology or medicine.
