Notes Published for much of its life in Cincinnati, Ohio, Billboard was established to cover billboard advertising and related industries. The earliest music charts in Billboard were listings of the most popular sheet music, which were first included in 1913. it also printed weekly lists of the most popular songs in vaudeville from 1913 through 1918. By 1934 Billboard was printing two separate weekly charts: one of the best selling records and the other of the most popular recordings played on radio and the top sales of sheet music. It began listing the records played most on juke boxes in 1938.
