RadoxTheGreen 2nd Feb 2014		I tried it with Opera 12.16 and the Maxthon browser, the search worked but I still don't like the site design. I guess if you're the sort of person that wants to search out everything ever done by a particular letterer then comics.org is your thing, but that level of minutiae just makes me want to stroll on by. Really not that bothered tbh, just think if 45worlds did it, most people would say this was the better of the two sites. It wouldn't duplicate information any more than we are now with Discogs.



davie gordon 1st Feb 2014		It works for me .. I've no idea why it doesn't work for you. Maybe it's something to do with the browser you're using .. I'm using Mozilla Firefox. The first box has the drop down menu where you get things like writer, penciller etc. Try it withuot touching the drop down box. Just enter the comic's title in the blank box then hit "search"

Of course you can search the database by title .. that's the default http://www.comics.org/ 1. Enter "Panic", or whatever the title is, in the blank box 2. click on the "search" button That brings up http://www.comics.org/series/name/PANIC/sort/alpha/ You then pick the exact title you're after. You do have to have some knowledge of comics to get the most out of the GCD but that applies to all databases.



RadoxTheGreen 1st Feb 2014		I thought the whole point of this site was that it ISN'T just about music. I really don't get this "it started with 45Cat so it should be all about the music" thing, you could just as easily say "it started with 45Cat so it should be all about the collecting". As for comics.org, that's the best case I've ever seen for starting a Comics World. The site is everything that's wrong with Discogs multiplied to infinity. You can search the site by the letterer or inker, but not by the title of the comic? Really? Or if you can, they haven't exactly made it easy to do so, and it's totally geared up to DC style one story issues. Horrible site, just horrible.



nboldock 31st Jan 2014		Personally I think Comic World would be straying too far off track (and away from music), and as Davie has highlighted, there is already a top website that does the same thing anyway.

RadoxTheGreen 30th Jan 2014		I think the term "Comic Magazine" must be an American thing as I've only ever heard them called comic books. That said, if it has articles inside it should be allowed and treated the same way as Doctor Who Magazine or Look In. Perhaps (he says reluctantly as he knows what lurks in the loft) we should look at introducing a Comics World in the near future, as with every crossover title that gets accepted, the line between magazine, comics compendium and graphic novel becomes a little more blurred. I note from the Wikipedia bio for this title, there were only 12 issues and several reprints. So is volume 2 a reprint of the original or have Wiki got it wrong? Some publishing info when they were uploaded would have been helpful, so would listing the contents so the mags can be properly compared.

assmandr 27th Jan 2014		Comic books are also known as comic magazines because technically they are magazines full of comic strips. Therefore, if Panic is indeed a comic book, its presence here would not be wrong. Another point is that when the first volume of Panic was published in the 50's, it was a sister publication to Mad which had the same format as Panic at the time. Today, there is no doubt that you'd call Mad a magazine. Keep in mind that Panic wasn't merely a comic book. Like MAD, it contained comics in it, but also like MAD, it contained satirical articles that weren't comics at all.
