 I see. Quite a good idea in theory, as they look part of the disc. I can imagine one of these in the middle of a Tamla Motown or Parlophone 45 looking quite unobtrusive.

 Hi TopPopper,
the adapters are a little bigger on the main diameter than a record centre and the spokes overlap the hole in the record, they are meant to slide in with 1 spoke above & 1 below not unlike earlier HMV jigsaw type adapters. They are frankly a fiddly bastard to work with so I am not surprised they disappeared without trace.
They are also made of metal covered in material, so I assume they were relatively expensive at the time.

 Wow! How do these work? The instructions say they should be "sprung" in the centre of the record, but it just looks like a punched out middle from a 45!
