She came onto my radar via a compilation album, which had a Throwing Muses tracks on it: "Dizzy", which I really loved. I bought the album, Hunkpapa, but was underwhelmed. A few years later, I heard a solo single, "Your Ghost", featuring guest vox by one Michael Stipe, which I also really loved! I decided to try again and bought that parent album, Hips & Makers. This time, it stuck so I decided to try the Muses again and this time I "got" it! I have now bought everything I can featuring or by Kristen Hersh. The best one, IMHO, is Strange Angels, where she was sounding like a Melanie of the 90s (is how I pictured it). It's like a bedsit album, all acoustic, redolent of The Kick Inside in places.
