Topic: What Did You Buy Today (And Why)?

Member since Feb 2012 7138 Points Moderator	One of our local shops, Offbeat, has now been taken over by the guy who used to run GJM Records (Offbeat will now become GJM I think). He's clearing a load of stock out (cheap!!!) to make way for new stuff, so we paid a visit on Saturday and then again yesterday. It's fair to say we may have got a bit carried away as we managed to come away with four carrier bags full of records over the two visits. I added some 12" singles to the site last night and have loads of LPs to add. Amongst the sizeable pile, we came away with (lots of folk)... 2x Martin Carthy on Topic 5x Topic sampler LPs 2x Bert Jansch on Transatlantic (one an Italian pressing) 1x Whippersnapper LP signed by Dave Swarbrick 1x Maddy Prior / Tim Hart on Mooncrest 2x Ewan MacColl LPs (one with Peggy Seeger) 1x Planxty (Irish pressing - added) 1x Fonda 500 LP on translucent white vinyl (not folk!) Also a stack of indie/alt 12"s - Silverfish, Mint 400, Flowered Up, 2x Buffalo Tom, 2x Death Cult, 1x House Of Love (I never leave anything behind by them) Can't remember the rest. There's loads more. We are now skint but have plenty to listen to so no need to leave the house for a while... Most records were either £1 or £2.50, with just a few at £5. None more than that. He has tonnes of stock for anyone in the area... I'll be adding more to the Worlds over the next few days. Oh, and after the spree yesterday, we paid a visit to a regular folk session which takes place every Wednesday afternoon at Ye Olde Black Boy in Hull (called "The Elderly Gentlemen's Binge Drinking Club") and I performed a Motorhead song ("1916") on guitar, which I think must be a first for a folk session?
