What I would do and have done in the past is make sure all nine albums are entered on the system as individual entries, with full details and scans etc. Then create a new entry for the box set and put in the notes the links to the albums and explain that #1-8 were available individually and that #9 was only available as part of the box set.

The individual albums can then also have notes entered linking them back to the box set once it is created.

An example is this Beatles box set.

I myself would put web links to each album in the notes so you can quickly go back and forth between them.
