If you're not lost... It's not an adventure! Member since Jun 2014 3745 Points Moderator | well, looks like there may be something in my previous calculation of around 256 or so discs...
...around this cat number, things start getting very, very strange...
EMI label uses the Fame cat number intermittently with Fame branded issues, some seem only to be available on cassette or CD about here, and there is a very close link with Capitol Records, who earlier on are the only ones who insist on having their labels on the Fame discs 41 3100 1 or so (Beatles solo cluster), but don't appear again till later, around 3217-18, when all Fame issues have original label reproductions (or picture type labels) under Fame branding.
I've been getting a little cross chatter here and there with other labels (but that's just down to search engine coincidences I think).
To add to the craziness,
Hawkwind: Masters of The Universe, appears twice!
firstly at FA 3008, which is a straight up reissue of the original, but again at FA 3220, same band, and title, but not the same album... this later is a compilation!
...and, they have the same cover art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This happens again with Motorhead: On Parole FA 3009, and FA 3251 (Same album this time, so a Fame reissue of a Fame reissue!!!)
And finally, Steve Miller Band: Sailor FA 41 3085 1, appears again as FA 3254.
Completely and utterly bonkers.
Oh, and to add to the fun, Deep Purple: Deepest Purple FA 3239 has Harvest Black and Silver reissue labels, so watch out for that one.
I think a few of these Fame issues may be quite valuable.. some because they are just in demand due to originals being super expensive themselves: Floyd : Piper, and Saucerful, etc., others just plain rare (although if anyone wants them is another matter)....
... but especially a group of four consecutive Iron Maiden issues FA 3244 -FA 3247, which have some quite healthy price tags attached to them where I've seen them for sale.
As I said around the 256 mark and after, it moves more to cassettes and CDs, so just going to work on what I have for the moment, before going any further.
