	sladesounds Turning rebellion into money since 1962 Member since Nov 2009 6566 Points Moderator	Anna was created by Berry Gordy's sisters, Anna and Gwen with Roquel Billy Davis in 1959, no doubt named as said above after Anna. The label was taken over by Motown in 1961. In 1961 Gwen married Henry Fuqua who is credited as far as I am aware with actually creating Tri-Phi Records that year, but I guess she may have been a co-owner or similar being his wife. Tri-Phi existed till around 1963 when it too was absorbed into Motown fold. The Motown subsidiary Soul Records was created in 1964 and ran till around 1978. I gather its aim was to provide an outlet for singles that were deemed commercial viable but not "pop" enough for the main Motown label.
