This is what Dylan, and the Beatles and others need to be doing. Their music is of great cultural importance, and I'm sure that in generations to come it will be revered. This digitising and releasing creates the archive for future generations, like having Leonardo's notebooks. While the Beatles Anthology did do a bit of that -- Macca is great at re-writing history to suit his needs -- for example -- he edited The Quarrymen's That'll Be the Day -- slicing 45 seconds off it. Anthology was also filled with medleys of snippets from various takes of songs. No wonder the bootlegs of stuff like Unsurpassed Masters sold so well. Amy |
