I have been thinking about the Europe problem.
I bet there is no single on here that has been released in every country in Europe so the category is defunct.

I agree with Jake on the issues with the European category and the International category is just as poorly thought through. The MODS are trying to grapple with these problems but have failed to come up with any solutions in over a year now. Meanwhile, Jake many others have boycotted the site until a remedy is found. The site is at a stalemate and these are not the only issues that are problems that are discouraging new users from joining or contributing to the site.
Another problem in my view is that while these problems with CDs have festered away countless new categories have been introduced magazines, books, film, TV, DVDs, and even games. 45cat started as a music site and thankfully the initial site for singles still is. This part of the site has turned into a site for about 100 to 200 collectors that seem to be in some sort of point scoring game.
The people at the top of tree in the point scoring game seem to be mostly either MODS or people (ex-traders or shop owners) that have huge collections and some people (me) that moved over to this site when it was just for vinyl albums - early in the site's history.
Forgive me for being cynical but I believe this is a valid observation. It seems to me and I'm sure to many new users to the site that the select group of users mentioned above are controlling or manipulating the site to play the 45cat point scoring game rather than to create a site that user friendly and attractive to new members. Jake's reaction to using the site is testimony to this.
So how about we scrap the point system, get rid of books, magazines, DVDs, Games, Films, TV and any other none music formats and concentrate on what brought us all here in the first place, cataloging formats of music and get that right like 45Cat Singles did.
The myriad of formats and point system have turned this site into a club for a few hundred people to play a long game of one-upmanship with their collections. Worse still is that the guidelines and problems with CD Albums and Singles are making the site next to useless as a resource for the general public.
In my view this part of 45Cat is in a severe and protracted crisis that has the potential to render the site obselete. Bit of a shame really.
