Does anyone know anything about this UK 78 prefix? I have added this record from a friend's collection:
S. W. T. 1892
Bob And Alf Pearson - Singin' In The Rain / Ol' Man River (1929)
"Special Test Record Not For Sale"
Red label Columbia
A: S. W. T. 1892
B: S. W. T. 1892-1

Bob and Alf's mother Emily entered the duo into a talent contest, for which the first prize was a recording contract with Columbia Records. They sang these two numbers and won. However, the contract did not materialise because Columbia already had a double act, Layton & Johnstone. This resultant private recording was the first made by the duo.

Perhaps SWT = Special Winner Test? Parlophone had the SW series, which was Society Works. The only number present is SWT 1892 and SWT 1892-1 on the other side. No matrix on the run-out. I would guess that 1892 is the first title or "A" side, and 1892-1 is the second, "B". This record wasn't released commercially. I believe the prize for winning the contest was a number of these records, so more than one copy would be in existence - probably given to family and friends primarily. The recording session must be logged somewhere at EMI.
