Topic: Where can I buy 78s?

 | Scratchy45 In Revived 45s, disinterred 33&1/3s, saved 78s Member since Jul 2011 782 Points | Just a rather late follow-on to Magic Marmalade's mention of house clearances. Some house clearances and estates are disposed of though auction houses. I'd not generally recommend buying sight unseen or out of area for 78s - however tempting it is. The risk of ending up with shattered shellac is a real one. Many auction houses rely on a mix of online bids and room bids to move their lots now - and however well packed, 78s aren't likely to transport well.. However, if you're in a position to view pre-sale and - crucially - pick up yourself, the occasional collection may prove interesting. |
