In buying job-lots of over 30,000 78s, I've found at least 46 (I stopped counting) copies of DX.1062 - ''Warsaw Concerto'' - I used them all at ends of boxes so that if an end one got broken... he he. Runners-up were Mantovani's ''Charmaine'', Anton Karas's ''Harry Lime Theme'' and yes, ''Mary's Boy Child'' sold a few, didn't it! ...

Although I've seen several copies of ''White Christmas'' it doesn't show up as often as one might think. (I've yet to find one with the 1947 recording on 78, which is on every wretched vinyl release of the song - even the 1954 Brunswick issue of 45-03384*. The much nicer 1942 one was still available on 78 (same cat.no.) as far as the late 50s (black labels, R/T tax code). Subject of my next book maybe.)

[ * My 1954 wide-tri 45 has the 1942 matrix no. on the label but not in the wax. They must have switched the tapes after the labels were printed. In the early days of vinyl when a lot of old recordings were being reissued, the industry was paranoid about the old shellac ''surface noise'' so that is why the 1942 disc was put away. Shame!]
