Here we are on lucky number 13 and it continues with the dark stuff.
Found Love is another great tasty piece of psych!!
Try Me On For Size is, also!!
The Camel Drivers were originally on a small hometown sort of label and then Buddah scooped them up.
Dirty Old Man has two different versions. I liked this one better and it's vastly different from the other version which will show up later. By this time, Van Morrison was no longer in the band.
The Golliwogs, of course, are one of the alternate personae of Creedence Clearwater Revival. This isn't really psych but, it fits nicely in this slot. It's not even a dark song but I quickly jump back into the darker stuff by the next song which fits great and just happens to be on the darker side, again.
Optical sound is another really cool tasty piece of psych!! The opening sound on this sounds a lot like the love jug on the previous song.
I Guess I Have Let You Go is almost not psych, but it is. Again, it steps in towards the light again.
My Friend Jack is about a guy that eats acid-laced sugar lumops/cubes.
Again, Flowers In The Rain is not psych, but it is! I guess it's more pop psych.. And, I think, with that one, we've stepped completely out of the dark and into the light fort a while. However, with the next song in line, we come to a section that I'm actually not 100% pleased with and maybe even a tad embarrassed by and, trust me, I'm almost NEVER embarrassed!! What happened wityh this section is that, by the time I got this far into the project, it was several years after I first started it and, there've been great spates of time where I just don't touch it at all, as far as adding to it. Mostly, it's because I'd get so far and them something would go very awry with my computer or one of the hard drives attached to it and I have to stop pretty much all of my projects for a while until I can get use oof that gear, again! so, in the interum, I lost the basic idea of what i was tying to do with the project and, instead of making it flow the way it had been, I fell whole hog into my old habit of putting together EVERYTHING that sounded similar!! The problem was, I hadn't noticed that I did that until I was WELL into the next CD or two!! I think I said that i don't want to get so used to the project, as far as listening to it, that I know what's coming up next 20 songs ahead of where I am so, I try not to listen to the finished project more than once a year. So, it was months after I made this section that I listened to it and discovered how forced this section sounded! But, at the moment, I know of no other way to remove a bunch of the later tracks in this spot and then just continue from there. It just won't work so, I'm stuck with it!! The only option is to try to fi8nd a spot in the middle of this bit and continue from there with a whole new set of music and, HOPEFULLY, wend my way back to the next song from when I cut it!! But, doing that might take a LONG time to inject those new bits in and, who KNOWS WHERE doi so is gonna take me?? i may NEVER get back to the next track!! So, here we have a SLEW of psych and psych pop songs that were made to sound like they were made 50 years before.
It's Fun To Be Clean was from a non-album (as far as I know) single.
This particular version of Penny Lane is probably the Anthology version.
Was there EVER a Vol. 2 of The Intrepid Balloonist's Handbook, Vol. 1?
And, so ends number 13!
Please excuse any typos, I'm too tired to proof read this right now and will do so and edit tomorrow.
