The reporting's more than a bit confused, but I found it interesting nonetheless. When the submarine U534 was sunk in the Kattegat in May 1945, the crew abandoned it at considerable depth. One of the things left behind by the crew in a sealed compartment - and thus preserved - was a box of 78s. Many decades later (1993) , the submarine was salvaged and ultimately ended up in Liverpool. The 78s were in surprisingly good order, and eventually after 30 years someone thought to try playing them.....
