In `68, The Monkees released a soundtrack album of their movie, "Head". There's two short recordings on it that, to this day, I STILL can't figure out what is being said! I'm pretty sure it's in the piece on the album called, "Poll". It's a number of short clips of people giving answers to a question they were asked and I can make out all but two of the answers. One sounds like the guy is saying, "Jumpity bump and giggle at ya.". Another guy says what sounds like, "Gunk bait! That's what it's based on! That's what this economy is based on!".
Does anybody else have any idea what they're actually saying?
I'm pretty sure it's just a case of me hearing it one way in my head decades ago and never being able, after that, to pick out what they're really saying because that's the only way I can hear it.
There were several other lines in Monkees songs over the decades that I was never able to pick out until recently. Most of them were lines sung by Mickey!
Almost the entire middle bit on, "Pleasant Valley Sunday".
"I'm gonna buy a raccoon for Johnaree" - "I'm Gonna Buy Me A Dog"
"I thought love was only true and fair it `tis" - "I'm A Believer" (Those last two I've finally figured out.)
