What is odd is that Colin Brown, who compiled the missing charts, produced compilation CDs for years. He had a huge 78 collection, tens of thousands (I wonder who got it?). So he could have included these tracks on his CDs, unless he didn’t have them of course. There were CDs planned which were based on the book, but in the end the only ones released were just the number ones. I’m not surprised you’ve had no replies from your Memory Lane advert. I think the readers tend to prefer the earlier dance band era (1930s), and the readership may not be huge. I haven’t had many responses to my adverts there. I have had replies to my ads in For the Record, the CLPGS magazine. You should try that. I think you will probably need to get transfers from King’s College or the British Library for the others! Still, you’ve done well to get all the others. I noticed that you weren’t looking for any American records. Presumably those have been reissued before, or are easier to find.
