Generally, the stars of the pre-rock era have been forgotten. The fact there were no published charts doesn’t help their reputations. Steve Conway has lots of hits in that book and died at a young age a few months before the NME chart started. Colin Brown, who compiled the data for the book, often seemed to put Reggie Goff tracks on compilations he produced. Colin also compiled a few reissues of Reggie’s recordings. Colin had a huge collection with tens of thousands of 78s, so I’m surprised he didn’t put everything in the book on his CDs, although I think he was planning to do CDs based on those charts.
