I went to see Yes at the Rainbow Theatre in London on 24 November 1973, and it was the first and last time I went to one of their gigs. I was into the band at the time, especially 'The Yes Album' and 'Fragile' (and to a slightly lesser degree 'Close To The Edge') and a friend had bought 'Time And A Word', so I was familiar with a lot of their material at this point. I was really looking forward to going to one of their concerts but on the night I found it quite a disappointment. Their musicianship and presentation was superb, as was the sound in the venue but I must admit that hearing all four sides from their new 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' LP for the first time being played at this gig, one after the other, was just too much - and not in a good way. I never bought that or the subsequent albums, as 'Topographic Oceans' had soured things for me.
