I grew up 15 miles up the A3 from Pompey and always called it Bognor too. Though has anyone heard a place called Lyme? Do we now have only one Newcastle, and somewhere else in Stoke-on- .... ? like Hanley, or not. Looking at the link I see only 5 'Royal' prefix towns, and all small except the two mentioned. However all this side steps my 2nd and more relevant point. The first point simply switches to removing to 'Royal' from those venues to unify the town. There are still 4 of those, and to repeat - two of those on both lists!
