I just cut pasted and edited to try to get my own understanding having a part set of a symphony and noted that the numbers ran the same order on the differing lables. The actual wiki entry is considerably more giving an even more convoluted history of the use of the Polydor Name. If you think its useful for dropping into a biography of the label , feel free to paste it there, but for which country ? The whole history of the Berliner companies (Including Deutsche Grammophon )is muddied by two world wars , economic mergers , acquisitions and split offs, and if Polydor was supposed to be an export label to the UK why have I got very Germanic writing on mine ?

In short I dont think the present day Wilkipedia entry is written clearly or correctly and that as records get added here the simplistic view of DG as Classical Label , Polydor as Popular Music / Export may well be subject to query. We do have an advantage over Wikipedia as we could create Biographies for German Polydor , West German Polydor and UK Polydor , which would all be slightly different and may make better sense, if we can track down basic information like pressing plant details. Have I read on 45cat that Polydor's UK pressing plant was in Aston Clinton (Bucks) ? Was that in use in the 78 era or a new plant built post war ?

From the few we have on here already :
Interwar : (Export for France and UK ? - so is it listed correctly under Germany ? )

Undated , but appears interwar , for German Use ?

Postwar (also used on early 45s ) , for W Germany ? Popular or Classical ?

Meanwhile Grammophone , using the Victor Logo

We are yet to find a Nipper Logo on Electrola

I understand other 78 sites exist , but as I am not a collector I have not really investigated them, so help or better knowledge from others welcome.
