GEMSMFAN, I understand where you're coming from and I PERSONALLY use square brackets for versions information and rounded brackets for parentheses in song titles in my iTunes Library. The key word here is personal - it's my own personal preference in my own personal library.

I use Last.fm and I can tell you that most people on there use round brackets for tagging tracks so I'm (and you are) clearly in the minority.

Same principle here. Your use of square brackets is a personal preference but there's rules and the mods have all agreed that the house style should remain round brackets for all song info and square ones for additional info. As the use of round brackets tends to be the most popular format, this makes sense.

This site is an amazing, free, worldwide resource so I'd say it's not worth the quibble about brackets and enjoy what you do have instead!
