Apparently the logo is called the 'Stacked Record' logo and used from 1991-1998. Note the original sound recording is now owned by Sony Music Entertainment Inc.after Sony's acquisition of CBS in 1987.

I've never heard of a copy-protection system for audio tapes, so is this real or just to scare people off trying?
