PhilMH 12th Mar 2018		Cassette Album Tom Jones - The World Of Tom Jones (1976)	Added year of 1976, based on the entries in Discogs. Seems to be right, as in the last Decca catalogue I have (1975, published September 1974), the "World Of" series is only up to the mid 300's.

PhilMH 8th Feb 2018		Cassette Album ABBA - Waterloo (1974)	P.P.S. this album entered Billboard's top 200 album chart at #189 in the issue dated 17th August 1974, where it is listed as being available in all 3 formats.
PhilMH 8th Feb 2018		Cassette Album ABBA - Waterloo (1974)	P.S. the package is missing the "(W) A Warner Communications Company" text that came into use across the whole WEA group of labels in 1975, so that also points towards this being a 1974 release.
PhilMH 8th Feb 2018		Cassette Album ABBA - Waterloo (1974)	Schwann catalogue for December 1974 lists this as being available on LP, 8-track and cassette, as do subsequent issues I have from October 1975 onwards. No release dates are listed, so it is possible that the July release was LP and 8-track only, with cassette following shortly afterwards. It is also possible that Atlantic gave Schwann incorrect release information - I saw this happen a few times with proposed new releases being cancelled after Schwann had gone to print (a few on ABC-distributed labels in late 1974 and John Fogerty's infamous HOODOO on Asylum in 1976 come to mind).
PhilMH 18th Jan 2018		Cassette Album Krystian Zimerman, Piano, Berliner Philharmoniker Conducted By Herbert Von Karajan - Edvard Grieg Piano Concerto Peer Gynt / Suites Nos.1&2 Holberg Suite (1983)	This was one of the first 20 releases in DG's Pocket Music series, reviewed in Gramophone in their September 1987 issue. It's not clear if they were actually released that month, but certainly the year needs to be changed on this entry.
PhilMH 16th Jan 2018		Cassette Album Lawrence Welk - No No Nanette	Could be late 1971 or early 1972. Michael de Looper's Other Festival LP'ss listing has the LP equivalent (SR66 9890) coming after some Calendar releases released in February 1972, but shortly after is a Johnny O'Keefe LP released in late 1971.
PhilMH 31st Dec 2017		Cassette Album Mantovani And His Orchestra - Mantovani / Hollywood	Decca's 1974 UK catalogue has October 1970 as the release date for the UK cassette ESKC 4887 (in fact, there are no cassettes listed with dates earlier than October 1970), It is possible that this was released in Australia in late 1970, but given the usual delays between UK/US and Australian release dates then, early 1971 is more likely.

(C)STMR 9017 is from September 1982, distributed by RCA. Those details from Sharon Davis' book MOTOWN: THE HISTORY, containing a discography compiled by Motown's then UK and international label manager Gordon Frewin.

PhilMH 13th Sep 2017		Cassette Album Billy Holiday - Billie's Blues (1990)	Hi guys, I've only just come across this, as I haven't been into this part of the site for a while. I would be inclined to go with Replay as the label, being the only brand that appears anywhere on this thing, but I don't have any knowledge of the label at all, I don't remember seeing any before now. Also, for whatever reason, this one didn't make it into Platterlog (I went back to 1989 because of that copyright date), which didn't list any Billie Holiday releases distributed by RCA at all, so I can't help with a release date. I'd better go and check the Gene Chandler too!

PhilMH 22nd Dec 2016		Cassette Album Carly Simon - Hotcakes	Hi Jasper, I'm just wondering if this could be a little later than 1979? The Elektra original LP and cassette are still listed in my May 1979 and May 1980 AMSCAT catalogues, but the album is gone completely from the August 1980 issue (and those are the only 3 I have), so 1980 would probably be the earliest for this, unless the catalogue missed it for some reason.
PhilMH 13th Dec 2016		Cassette Album Diana Ross And The Supremes - Greatest Hits Volume 3 (1981)	This one has quite a release history! The M5 203 catalogue number first appeared in September 1981, and Motown weren't using barcodes then; Motown moved to MCA Distributing, Inc. in 1983; The label was then sold to MCA & Boston Ventures in late 1988; The new barcode dates from late 1991/early 1992 when Motown changed distributor, and was eventually sold to, PolyGram! I would go with September 1981 as the release date.

This edition, with reformatted catalogue number, and company name shown as Motown Record Company, L.P., is from 1988 or later, after Motown was sold to MCA and Boston Ventures.
PhilMH 19th Mar 2016		8-Track Curtis Mayfield - Give, Get, Take And Have (1976)	Added year as shown on liner. Release month was probably June, as this entered the Billboard Pop Albums Chart in the issue dated July 4th 1976. This tape catalogue number appears in 1976 Schwann catalogues.

PhilMH 18th Oct 2015		Cassette Album Stevie Wonder - In Square Circle (1985)	You're right, Jasper, I didn't see the Tamla logo on the tape housing. For a couple of years, RCA in Australia was using the US Motown (map label, rather than the blue International design), Tamla, Gordy, etc logos and label designs on 45s and LPs - I have this on LP with the Tamla label - but then around 1986 they went back to the blue international Motown label. I've always wondered whether the use of the US labels was done with or without Motown's approval, but as far as this one goes, maybe it might be better to show it as two labels, Motown and Tamla, rather than using Tamla Motown, which really applies to the well-known "script" logo. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are later copies of this with the Motown logo on the tape housing.
