" I seem to recall a blank tape company in the early 80s, selling "blank" tapes with music on them, which could simply be recorded over if required "
Yes, I can recall the same, and I may have one or two in my mostly as yet undiscovered collection of cassette tapes. One I recall had artist info. printed on the pre-recorded side, so you could tape over if required, or keep.
Ablex Audio Video Ltd. a name mentioned on the inlay as manufacturer with a contact telephone number 0952-584131 (out of date number), might yield more information.
That telephone number, which should now possibly be 01952-584131 yields a Telford, Shropshire and surrounding area address as a likely location for an Ablex plant.
A further search using that tel. no. brought this link {please contact FAST in London on ...... Tel: (0952) 584131 • Telex: 35649. 32.} from 1985 link to a Computer And Video Games, Issue 040 Feb 85., although I cannot view the PDF, as my Adobe reader is out of date, and I cannot update it at the moment.
Peter Banks, of Ablex, mentioned on the inlay, might yield untold riches..............
let's find Peter Banks, and BiggieTembo can grill him, although I'd prefer to flambé the wretch.

A first class presentation of a submission by Graham7, always to the highest standard, with the top image having just the front inlay showing, people take note, this is how to present the images.......
Very interesting Graham7; To me, it smacks of an advertising campaign by BASF, pushing their "new" chrome tape range (but good for the artists too!). I seem to recall a blank tape company in the early 80s, selling "blank" tapes with music on them, which could simply be recorded over if required. Anyone else recall this, or remember the company/companies involved? It might have been BASF too, but hard to tell as I taped over them, of course :) They looked just like regular blank tapes so it's hard to tell which ones were which...
I assume this was an HMV freebie when one made a purchase. No cat# visible, and I've used BASF as the label.
Unfortunately my crappy home scanner can't "capture the chrome" on the cover.
Very little trace on google of the company mentioned on cassette, Rees Jordan & Co Ltd., apart from an address - 41 Mary Place, London W11.
