Tape Media: Cassette Album
Notes 1 cassette, 1 inlay. Polydor (London) mid-price, mid-80s re-issue (the red Polydor logo and SPEMC catalogue number [SPELP for reissue LP's on wibbly-wobbly thin vinyl] a dead giveaway for their 80s reissues). The ubiquitous "Home Taping is killing music" logo on back-flap and release date of 1984 on inlay, giving further clues for a mid-80s release. Black plastic cassette shell, printed with weak white ink. Dolby B noise reduction, which, for this legendary low-fi album, actually sounds amazing - giving the listener a seldom "Reverse Dolby Experience", where the sound is clear and bright with great bass (especially on "Sister Ray") instead of muddy and submerged in a vat of lard. Tracks are shuffled around in comparison with the original album track order, a-la the 70s and 80s EMI Beatles cassettes, which kept their 8-track cartridge running orders to facilitate equal lengths of tape during "change over" (for those initiated with 8-track cartridges - you'll know what I mean ;-), Tracks 1-2 make up Side 1; Tracks 3-6 Side 2.
