I've just added an mfp album and had to make a choice over the label - mfp or Music for Pleasure. As far as I know there is no distinction between the two, but there are two separate label series on the site, depending on the choice made by the uploader.

May I suggest some sort of permanent merge, and a system for forcing new entries onto one or other version - otherwise there will always be parallel lists for what is essentially just one label.

(Incidentally, mfp is not just a UK label - also Australia, France, South Africa and probably others too.)

We discussed this on the Mod board a while back and the general consensus was that "Music For Pleasure" should be the way forward (not "MFP").

Not sure if we can "force" one or the other but I'm sure Codemeister OC will be able to advise more clearly on that score.

I've moved all MFP entries onto Music For Pleasure.

I've also added a temporary note to the MFP page although whether a user would see it before entering a record is debatable.

We had previously deleted the "MFP" label but that doesn't stop someone from re-starting it inadvertently.

That's a good start. Thanks. I guess if all else fails, people will notice from time to time and flag up rogue entries. I'll remember to use Music For Pleasure when I eventually upload my hoard of cheapo LPs!

I've a few to go on myself yet TP

I think there's something quite charming about MFP to be honest... not sure WHAT though.

Just the words "music for pleasure" are gently reassuring

Of course there is also "Classics For Pleasure"... I think I have some of those lurking in our meagre classical collection (haven't started on those yet).

I've got 8 MFP LP's in a pile by my door, with a load of Frank Pourcell and James Last's, all waiting to go to the charity shop/tip - whichever I drive past first.

Can I muster the enthusiasm to try and add them before they depart this mortal coil ?

I've just entered some 'MFP' albums, before reading the topic.
Before that, I had entered an album with both MFP and Music for Pleasure on the labels.

Gawd, yes. Where do they keep appearing from ?! I take a box load down to the charity shop every six months, yet still they keep pouring out of the cracks and crevices of the house !!

There are some good releases on the Music For Pleasure (MfP) Ranges. Beach Boys of Hawaii for one ( Think that is Geoff Love and Orchestra under yet another of their names ). When (if) mum moves out of her chair I can get to the LPs and start listing and photo-ing , but need to finish the 78s off first.
