I Must Not Pick Up Records From Outside The Charity Shop When They Are Closed
(honest they will go back there next time I am passing)
For my sins what did I get.
Boxed Set ( Down Memory Lane) Reader's Digest RCA Dynagroove.
UK issue ( think the USA equivalent has 11 LPs in it ), should have 10 discs but disc 2 is missing. Thats a load of scans to do. Meantime any idea what to put under for the label. I would like them as separate discs , even though they are an album format. Stereo set from 1966.
Finally can the sleeve notes be trusted on Reader's Digest records ( one assumes so )
I'd go by the labels themselves, if that helps. A big Readers Digest logo would make it Readers Digest but if RCA dominates the label design, I'd go for that.
Not sure it would be right to list them separately though...
I know its liked that album sets are on one numerating , but for 11 or so discs it gets rather cumbersome , and each comes in its own sleeve , with the rather full sleeve notes , and no , the labels dont help (Reader's Digest round the circumference , RCA spotted below in 12 O'Clock spot) , the sleeves of the individual LPs have no issuer and the box set cover gives equal rankings to the three trade names ( though I thought we could discount Dynagroove as being a trademark for the various microgroove records that had different names by different manufacturers (actually its RCA Victor's processing technique for mono tracks into false stereo http://www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/95/ and supposedly optimising grooves for the then common stylus shape for playback.
However , personally I think I would list as RCA Dynagroove ( as it appears that format was limited in it releases compared to all RCA Victor Releases ) and note that that it was supplied to Reader's Digest as distributor ) That can be swapped or amended if others think otherwise at a later date.
