There's a few of these being added to the site and just wanted to know what and why exactly does half speed mastering make this (or any record) better?? Is this record a must have buy or is it just a rerelease by the record company to get some more cash for an old record?
It's about sound quality. I guess if it's transferred from tape at half the speed, the equipment picks up more detail. Whether it makes an appreciable difference is up to the listener, and no doubt varies from LP to LP. Personally, I don't bother with them. I think it's a bit gimmicky, like pure silver speaker cables.

Careful what you say there, PP. ISTR that Ben Goldacre had death threats after daring to suggest that very expensive mains leads may offer no benefits in sound quality http://www.badscience.net/2006/01/kettle-lead/

If I paid a lot for it you better believe it sounds better or I'll punch you
My speakers are run off some electric cable wrapped round itself so it's really thick. Ssounds great and cost me nothing becaus I borrowed it off an electrician
