Says 'Long Play' on the label, plays at 33 1/3 rpm, 5 tracks but its a 7".....So is it an EP or an LP?

If its 7", then it belongs on 45cat

I guess in this case "Long Play" might just be another way of saying "Extended Play". Or something.

I would go out on a limb and say there is no such thing as a 7-inch album.

10-inch, yes - they definitely exist.

But if its 33 1/3rpm how can it belong on '45'cat  .
Its an oddity that doesn't really fit anywhere, and in this case I'd be tempted to add it to vinyl albums because of its speed.

Yeah I know it doesn't really fit any catagory it's not got a single track that's advertised as single or ep. None of the tracks are written by the band. [img][/img]the-move-stephanie-knows-who-regal-zonophone-s.jpg

45 cat is not restricted to 45 rpm records. It includes EPs, many of which are 33. It also contains singles which spin at 33, like this one: http://www.45cat.com/record/333376

It should really be called 7-inch cat.

I wouldn't describe it as an LP, although others might disagree. All 17 tracks are cut into circular grooves (as opposed to a continuous spiral) so each one plays indefinitely until the needle is lifted.

Technically there is no upper limit on the number of tracks an EP can have, although conventionally between three and six is the norm. There are EPs with more, and I would personally call this an EP.
