Yuk! I've just scanned two EMI CD singles for inclusion on the site and neither have scanned properly. They are both silver with an inner and an outer layer, if that makes sense. They have scanned like this one. Does anyone know how to correctly scan these silver coloured discs?

An ongoing problem which we don't seem to have a solution for as yet. Photographing them does work, but then it's obviously a bit of a pain getting it nice and round! But at the moment that's the only "solution" I think.
I put discs with a label print like yours inside a clear PVC sleeve (like used to protect CDs in cardboard sleeves) before scanning.
The results are not perfect, far from it, but at least a little bit more readable.
Apparently the sleeve minimizes the reflections of the silver label and hence improves the scan.

Thanks, Frank and Peter, for your very helpful advice. I've been experimenting with a PVC sleeve and it certainly improves the image. Now to buy some virgin PVC sleeves!
