LPs on the Trailer label from the late 60s and 1970s seem to exist on both red and yellow labels. Does one pre-date the other? If so, which is earlier? (The black and white "Highway" labels are 1980s reissues.)

I have a Tony Rose on Trailer (LER 2024) produced in 1971 and a sampler (LER 2019) produced in 1970, both bought 1971-2 'ish which have red labels. Conversely, a Martyn Wyndham-Reed (LER 2009) from about the same time, released 1970, has a plain black print on a white label. The only yellow label I can find is Vin Garbutt (LER 2102) produced 1976. All my red labels have 'Leader Sound Ltd' on their covers, and no company name on the labels. I don't have a cover for the Vin Garbutt, but that has "Trailer Records Ltd" on the labels. So a guess at label colour order is white, red, yellow.
My copy of LER 2009 has a white label too. However, that's the only Trailer release I've seen with a white label. Of the 40+ Trailer LPs I've got, the latest red label is from 1975, with everything after that being yellow. However, I have several yellow labels pre-dating 1975, with the earliest going back to 1970. Unfortunately, all my copies were bought second hand, so I've no way of putting a date to when they were bought originally.
My feeling is therefore that red came first, changing to yellow around 1975, with the white LER 2009 label being a "one off".
It's also worth noting that some of the few Trailer label scans on here so far are actually Highway releases from the 1980s, but have been added to listings for the 1970s originals. Personally, I consider each of these to be two different releases, since they are effectively two different record labels, despite using the same catalogue numbers (see LER 2027, LER 3015 and LER 2091). The original Trailer catalogue was sold/licensed to Transatlantic in about 1977.

At least we're getting some idea on the chronology of Leader/Trailer. See also these comments. I've just commented that my copy of Andrew Cronshaw's "Wade in the Flood" LTRA508 (1978) listed as Trailer is on the Transatlantic label, so maybe this is somekind of crossover too. Thanks for the ~1977 date. Strangely the labels say p.1978 Transatlantic Records Ltd, but the cover says p.1978 Logo Records and Wikipedia says: Logo Records was a British record company formed in the mid-1970s by British record executives Geoff Hannington and Olav Wyper. It was originally funded and part-owned by UK publishing company Marshall Cavendish.
so the mystery deepens further :(
If you have 1970 onward issues with yellow labels do they say Trailer Records Ltd too?
The more I look into this, the more confused I get. For instance, I have both red and yellow label copies of Roy Bailey's first album (LER 3021). Both credit "Leader Sound Ltd." on the rear of the sleeve (neither of them mention "Trailer Records Ltd" on the labels). However, the sleeve for the (probably earlier) red label copy gives an address of "5 North Villas, London N.W. 1", whereas the sleeve for the yellow label copy gives an address of "209 Rochdale Rd. Greetland, Halifax, Yorks, HX4 8JE". To muddy the waters further, sleeves for other yellow label copies say "Marketed and distributed under licence by Transatlantic Records Ltd. ...". I've added a scan of the relevant detail of such a sleeve to the LER 3015 listing, along with yellow label scans.
Time permitting, I'll maybe add a listing for the Roy Bailey album, to illustrate what I'm waffling on about.

The Halifax address is Highway Records. Part of the problem seems to be that that sleeves and labels are mixed dates, depending on when they were sold and if old stocks still existed. If you look at Nic Jones' Noah's ark trap (1977) the sleeve is a 'Transatlantic' period one, with no mention of Highway, but the labels are Highway. Nic's next LP cover and labels (1978) are all 'Highway'.
