There are many cases in which one former LP has been issued as a separate CD as well as in a box set (together with other re-issued LPs-CDs). However, I noticed that linking the releases produces some strange and unwanted results.
To give an example:
Let's say LP "Flip" and LP "Flop" have been re-issued separately as 2 CDs and together in one Box set.
Now, I linked the Box set to the CD re-issue of "Flip" as well as of "Flop". This makes sense. But it then happens that also the separate CD issue of "Flip" will be shown as linked release under "Flop", which of course isn't correct. This happens, I guess, because both separate CDs are linked to the Box set, and all links are shown everywhere together.
So this needs be corrected I think, otherwise linking releases becomes either meaningless or produces confusing results. When I link a box set to a certain other CD, only this link should appear on the respective sites.
I think some of you must have run into this problem, too.
There's a Russian double LP of "Revolver" and "Sgt Pepper" with the front covers of both on either side of the sleeve. At the moment it's linked as Sgt Pepper, but if it got linked to Revolver as well, then every Sgt Pepper on the site would be linked to every Revolver on the site!
Exactly. And this is what should not be happening, really.
Surely this can be changed somehow?

"You can link them in the comments or notes instead and this will work."
Linking in the comment will be with normal URL link, I can see that.
But how does linking in the notes work?

The same way but you have to either do it when you enter the record or, if the record has already been entered, put a Correction Request in and one of the Mod team will do it. Users can't edit Notes after the initial entry stage.
