I'm just watching a recording of the first episode of 'Sound of Song' - The Recording Revolution' - BBC4. I don't know whether anyone has mentioned this programme, but I'm sure it will appeal to many site users. So far we've had the presenter looking through a wax cylinder archive, referring to the 'format war' between wax cylinders and discs and he's just introduced shellac. I'm sure it will be repeated or available on BBC iplayer

You never know Neil, they aired "JJJ's" 40th Birthday tonight.
I didn't see that show, I went out to a club for a few hours(Triple-Jay just doesn't interest me, I much prefer community radio!). For the uninitiated outside Australia, Triple-Jay Is an FM radio network, attached to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It's key stations in each state are: 2JJJ-FM, Sydney; 3JJJ-FM, Melbourne; 4JJJ-FM, Brisbane; 5JJJ-FM, Adelaide, also serving Darwin(Northern Territory); 6JJJ-FM, Perth; 7JJJ-FM, Hobart. Originally the station was on the AM band, for AM call-signs, just delete one 'J'! The station had a youth music playlist and programming policy.
