Hello! I've already added a few Decca's to the database,so if they need to be corrected, please do.

I'm just confused as to what the catalog numbers are on these records?

Is it the L xxxx code, or the xxxx A/ xxxx B ?

Thanks!

PS: When cataloging by release date, is it safe to set them to the date that they first appear on in Billboard magazine?

If it US Decca -- then use the numbers only that have the A or B after them -- for example 1234 A -- use 1234 .. as opposed to the master number which is L4567.

Please however be extra cautious about any entry you make without an image to accompany it as any piece of info entered for things like artist attribution, composers etc is in many case difficult to prove. Seeing is believing!

PS:
Could you find the earlier Decca records that I added to the site and correct those for me? That was before I found that information and I was using the L-code number. Thanks!

One more thing:

When adding the Deccas, I noticed there was a special label for Decca Faith Series. (I do not have any of those.)

But I do have alot of the Decca Personality Series series. Would I put those under a new label Decca Personality Series, or just file them under Decca?

(I currently put them under Decca.)

Nope-- do not do Decca Personality Series -- as EVERYTHING (apart from Faith and Sepia) was Personality Series and the record label itself is (historically) Decca.
