Fairly new to this site and really really love it..also my new found passion for 78's I think my collection is around 950 now and still need to catalogue. Yesterday browsing through antique store there must have been 1500 78's and YEP i went through every single one..picked up 127 of the babies....labels include Brunswick, Vocalion, Gennet, Grey Gull, Okeh, Blue Bird (yellow and blue label), Crown, Regal just to name a few.
One thing that breaks my heart a perfect condition Sun recording Johhny Cash  it broke.... hoping to repair and not sure worth anything but might just keep for personal use and reminder to be more careful or if anyone interested give me a shout.
Amongst the Brunswick's they are all early 1920's Jazz and I cant wait to listen.
Just thought I would share...appreciate any comments or conversation.

Hi Debsey - It will be great if you can add each and all of your collection that aren't already on here! I hope you can set yourself up with a scanner so we can all see the labels

Terrible about the Johnny Cash, but you can still scan the label and preserve it for history

I take it the Margaret Young is one of your new purchases

Sorry, Debsey. I don't think 78s can be repaired. The glue to rejoin the broken pieces would ruin the stylus(not to mention the shellac). Sadly, once broken - that's it! Sie ist kaput!

I repaired a 78 once that was broken in half with super glue. There was glue overrun slightly on the surface, but was playable. I never thought it hurt the needle.
The join didn't last however.
By the way, what's an American doing using the word amongst?
Whilst? Arse?

I certainly hope you recovered from the hernia that carrying them buggers must surely have caused! Way back, yonks ago when I was a kid, I was given a heap of them, some very well known songs in there too(an early issue of Rock Around The Clock, Wayward Wind[Gogi Grant] and Young Blood/Searchin'[Coasters] among them) but getting them home damn near killed me! They were H-E-A-V-Y!!!!!
