I hope not. A sort of a nothing show, about nobodies, where nothing ever really happened.
I agree. I can sit through an entire episode and not crack a smile. Even test cards make for better TV
When I watch a programme or a movie I go for characters that I'd like to know, good or bad, or that I'd like to BE friends with - and this lot fails all around. Bunch of shallow numpties to me.

I liked the earlier series, but it fell apart when they realised they were popular. It suffers from being very much "of the time height of fashion" and looks very dated now (80s purple walls and "that" haircut etc). The only episode that ever really stood out for me was "the one with the Superbowl part 2", which was the episode where Phoebe was singing about animal slaughter and the crying kids were pleading "mommy, make her stop". They did a poor copy version of the episode when the "Phoebe Sings" album came out ("the one with Phoebe's uterus") and I thought that was the jumping the shark moment... and yes it's sad that I know those episode titles.

I loved it at the time but have not watched it since it ended. I suspect the memory would be better than the event and, if I watched an ep now, I might be disappointed.
Yes, it was written by a committee - and fekt like it at times! - but what I found most appealling was the attention to detail: there could be a show about a particluar event but there would be so many little sidelines which made me laugh like a fool!

I liked Friends a lot back in the day, but as already noted - it was very much of its time and I suspect I wouldn't find it quite so entertaining nowadays.
You really want to hate it? Put an episode on so you can hear it but not see it. The laugh track will drive you crazy. Joey (or anyone) says "I'm going down town". You get HA HA HA HA HA. Awful.

The laugh track is something I hate about US TV. I know when to laugh and know when something is funny and I don't need some sound effect to tell me when to.
