Hi. Can anyone read Arabic scripts and identify the country of origin for this record?

I've included an enlargement of some of the small print, which can be deleted in due course - there's more script on the label itself.

I just looked at it, and I think it could be British-pressed export for Iranian market, one side printed in English, the other in Arabic.

There was a glitch in the system, the web servers for this site and 45cat were down for some minutes. Fingers crossed everything is fine now.

If it was for the Iranian market, it would be in Farsi rather than Arabic. Although the script for Farsi looks similar to Arabic to outsiders like ourselves, the two languages aren't even related (although - for obvious historical and religious reasons - there has been a strong Arabic influence).

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm also doubtful this is Farsi. I think that script tends to have a higher number of discrete characters - this script appears more 'joined up'.

I'm hoping somewhere in the small print it will state the country name - any stamp collectors out there recognise anything??

Could it be Thai? Just looking at the characters on the front too. I'm not sure it's an Arabic language, possibly something South East Asian?

Has anyone looked up this Beatt International thing on it?

It's quite definitely an Arabic or Arabic-style script. Could possibly be Urdu (for release in Pakistan)?

And I did try to look up Beatt International, Nick. I just got a lot of hits for this lot!

Beatt International was a UK cover-version team. This was an mfp soundalike album, released in the UK with the usual bikini-clad model on the front. So, Beatt International offers no further clues.

Don't think it's Urdu (good shout though). There are a couple of key words - "Celebration" on the cover, and "Made in England" on the label, which Google can translate into Urdu and others, but I've yet to find one that matches.

Scratch that about Urdu.

I put "Revolutions Per Minute" into Google Translate for Arabic and it produced
دورة في الدقيقة, (can't make it any larger than that, sorry! Try it for yourself if you want) which - allowing for different styles of script - is pretty close to what's shown on the enlarged image above '33 1/3 rpm'.

So it's definitely Arabic. Which, of course, narrows it down to about 20 different states... :erk:
