I found four of these test pressings at a boot fair the other week...
(along with what turned out to be an Argo label one)
...I'd seen a couple of them around before, but never grabbed them as they don't usually have sleeves, and often only have the matrix numbers hand-written on the labels (sometimes with title, maybe artist occasionally),
...so it's a bit of a punt as to what they may be, unless you recognise a Decca "ZAL" matrix prefix (See what this site has done to me!!!), anyhow, I did recognise the matrix, and thought I'd speculate, and turns out one of them is for an SXL series (Wahoo!!!).... except, it's one record of a double album set, and to make matters worse, it's in "changer format" style:
That is: My disc has sides 2 and 3 of 4 sides, and the one I don't have has sides 1 and 4 (buggleration!).
And so, it seems are the others so arranged (I have succeeded in finding a clutch of Decca test pressings for half of each complete album -
nuts.
My question is, though, Can I enter them as is, and take the complete info for the entire package in each case from elsewhere online (all sides), and then wait and hope that someone else adds the stock issues complete with all labels...
... or do I just hold fire until someone does add them, then add my scans after?
It would be pretty uninspiring to look at just my scans, as they are just those plain, but lurid pink jobbies with the black border and dashes around the edge (Like the Decca Demo label patterns for 45s), and just hand-written biro on these.
(As a note, earlier Decca test pressings I've seen on line have only half the label pink, and the other half a turquoise-y blue)
As long as you know the details - artists, works and cat. no's - you might as well add them and hope a full set of images will turn up.
All fields entered as 'unknown' would be a bit pointless unless there is something unusually interesting to be shown.

I've done it myself. But make sure that it is the same track listing as the finished release you are adding. I have a white label pressing by Matumbi which I know nothing about so I have to wait.

I might be more confident if the disc was just in standard: 1,2,3,4 sides order, over two discs, but as it's in that changer format, I'm worried that the finished article may have been altered for release...
... And the more I think about it, the purpose of the entries here at least need to be informative, and if I can't offer anything yet that would serve this purpose, then maybe I'll wait on them, as you are Hawkm.
There's a good chance the others will turn up some time, but the SXL is part of the: Delibes: Sylvia set (Which is quite rare)... so maybe I'll have to forage for that one myself.
Also, classical entries are exhausting in any case, what with having to work out the sectionbreaks, and complicated subsections etc. So maybe I'd be better advised to wait till I have it in hand before attempting it.
Just as a thought (seeing as you have one you're waiting on too Hawkm): it's probable that others have similar bits and bobs which have as yet, nowhere to go in a listing... that maybe it would be possible to upload scans of these random items direct to a forum thread dedicated to this purpose?
(But not sure if we can upload non-online images to threads can we?)
