One of the first CDs made, and only available through Hi-Fi equipment stores to promote early CD players...

It's only a single disc selection of the double vinyl counterpart, but is probably one of the rarest and most valuable CDs there is:

Now That's What I Call Music 4 CD

(Must have original "patents pending" jewel case, 8 prong tray and booklet for this kind of value)

The most valuable CDs I have are some of the RCA Bowie ones (now worth about 20-30 spons a pop)

I've never seen any of those in the flesh... are they on site?

Recent limited editions of Joe Vs The Volcano, and the double soundtrack of Every Which Way But Loose / Any Which Way You Can also attract many bids, and high final prices (although I think they may have tailed off a bit recently.

(Can't say I understand the prices for those particular titles myself, but then we each have our own preferences I suppose).

Prince: The Gold Experience is currently doing well... many bids each time, and achieving £30-£40...

The Gold CD singles do OK as well.

The Australian band TISM who despite their arty ways did chart regularly in Australia have an extremely expensive back catalogue for some reason. The reissue of their CD album Machiavelli And The Four Seasons with the bonus disc (http://www.45worlds.com/cdalbum/cd/g002g002bonus) is currently going for around $300 Australian dollars. That's about 130 Nicker or $225 US and this is not unusual for TISM every release by them is collectors gold. Unless, of course you're like me and you bought it to listen too and don't want to sell it.

Also their initial releases were virtually impossible to get. They were distributed thru 'Shock' and for my orders of thirty items I was lucky to get one. I had a standing order for TISM material which never seemed to show up in shipments.

Hey Vinyl (or do you prefer Mr. Junkie),

Anyway on the topic of TISM when I uploaded my albums I missed the first official TISM release the mini-album Form And Meaning Reach Ultimate Communion. I'll dig it out and upload it over the weekend along with a few others that got missed in my cataloging frenzy. This one, however only sells for around $150 Australian despite having the fabulous C&W version of "Defecate On My Face" as an unlisted track. Thanks for the info on Shock though I do now recall that they were notoriously unreliable on the supply side of things now that you have mentioned it.

Wasn't the original release of Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue pretty rare on CD until the deluxe repackage many years later?
