I've just bought the DeAgostini magazine/LP package of Abbey Road. I have a slight dilemma over how to add it to the site.
The LP itself is pretty much the same as the 2012 remaster, just a few tweaks to the small print here and there. And yet, it comes as a very different package, fixed to a large printed board also carrying a magazine, magazine binder, poster and a few bits and bobs.
If I were to list it as a new edition (significantly different due to the packaging) I would include images of all the extra bits and pieces. And yet, the LP is a re-press of the existing one and if I add it there instead it will clutter the page with all the (less relevant) extra items.
So, create a new entry? Add to the existing one with extra items included? Add to existing and don't include the extras? I'm not sure how to proceed...

Look at the Jazz on 33 entries, lots of DeAgostini releases there.
I would treat it as a new release. If it is like the Jazz albums the cat #'s are the same but as you say subtle difference to cover etc.
On the early Jazz on 33 series everything was scanned and uploaded, having reached issue 30 I now do the cover and labels and dispense with the magazine.
Many thanks for the reply. I'll follow your lead and list it as a new edition, unless anyone objects. That was my thought initially too. Just need to get some close-ups of the small print.
There's going to be a new one issued every two weeks.
Yeah, new add IMO it's got a 'Licensed to DeAgonstini Group' credit on the back sleeve which makes it a different edition in my book. If the sleeve / labels were exactly the same as what’s already out there then I'd say no.
Slightly annoying the Italians put those SIAE stickers everywhere - mines inside the shrink wrap(?) and they are hard to remove without making a mess.

Can't we all just ignore this tasteless affair and pretend it never happened like the Global Financial Crisis? I suppose not - it is a new release though.

I toyed with the idea of subscribing to this series - but - came to the conclusion that I would never play them as I already have most of these albums on Vinyl and all of them on CD. The cost put me off as it would run into hundreds of £s with buying the boxes as well. They would just sit on the shelf until I snuff it then be sold on by someone who may need the cash
I'm not sure that all the stick Macca & Ringo have been getting over this is justified

Might, might be worth buying just the first one...

As someone totally outside the area where this is being marketed, I have to ask .. what is the bleedin' purpose of this. Musically and sonically it adds nothing to the catalogue. The pricing is outrageous and is hardly worth it for the trinkets. Rip-off all the way. While I'm sure that Macca had an okay in this, and Ringo probably said "whatever" as did the estates (or their lawyers) for John and George, I think it is really the greediness known as Universal who are behind this.

I've worked out the total cost as follows after discovering that there are 11 Double / Triple Albums
1 x 9.99 = 9.99
11 x 16.99 = 186.89
11 x 24.99 = 274.89
Plus £2 per album for storage boxes 23 x 2 = 46
Grand total of £517.77

The pricing of the albums is exactly as you would pay in the stores such as HMV for 180g vinyl - £16.99 for single albums and around £24 for doubles (in the UK)
But I'm still not tempted.

Okay -- far enough - but -- what is the purpose of this endeavour? Seems like a money grab to me. A fan/ anorak may already have the 180 gramme represses, so they are paying those prices simply for the extra bits with the added bonus of an elpee with extra text on the label rim -- extra bits that will end up on a shelf and never be used.
Granted this may appreciate in value and be an investment, but geez. I know -- I'm a grouch - -but I'm a really good looking one.
I guess you know you'll end up with a complete set of pristine vinyl, the like of which most collectors won't already have. And as it's all in installments, the financial impact is less, and it becomes a bit of a project, a bit of fun with something great to show for it at the end.
